In around 1989, Jay of Kaufman & Associates was hired by Matrix Alliance to completely renovate this aging 150 seat 5.1 dubbing theater.
The console was completely updated with the addition of a custom monitor section and pec direct system. The 5 channel Altec A2 monitor system, sub-woofers and surround speakers were refurbished and aligned. Most of the wiring was also replaced within the theater. The 35 mm projection system was refurbished and a new video projection system was added. The 30-35mm dubbers in the machine room also required a complete overhaul.
Acoustical modifications to the room were implemented to eliminate a flutter echo problem at the mix position and reduce the overall reverberation time by approximately 150 milliseconds. Resonator bass trapping was added to eliminate excessive reverb at 80hz.
